A route around the dunes

The 4x4 trip takes you to some of the most distinctive places in the area, crossing desert tracks and wide Saharan landscapes you never see from the road.

The driver is from here and knows the people in the places we pass through. That is the difference between an excursion and a drive.

What you visit

The oasisWater in the middle of the desert, with its palm grove. It surprises everyone because nobody expects it.
The fossil minesThere was a sea here millions of years ago. You can see the marine fossils set into the rock.
Nomad familiesThey still live in the area. You stop for tea with them, with no staging and no show.
Khamlia and Gnawa musicA Gnawa village, descended from people who came up along the caravan routes.
Berber pizzaMedfouna, if you want to end the trip eating what people here eat at home.

Around 3 to 4 hours.

It leaves from the camp, with no transfer beforehand.

Questions about the 4x4 trip

How long does the trip last?

Three to four hours, depending on what you want to see and how long you stay at each stop.

What exactly do you visit?

The oasis, the fossil mines, nomad families living in the area, and the village of Khamlia, known for its Gnawa music. It can end with a Berber pizza.

Is it a rough ride?

You go by 4x4 along dirt tracks and stretches of sand. It moves about, but it is not an extreme route. If anyone gets carsick, say so and they can sit in front.

Can it be done with children?

Yes. It is one of the activities that works best with families because you stop often: the fossils and the camels along the way often go down better than the dunes.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the route and how many of you there are. Message us on WhatsApp and we will settle it before you arrive.

Should I book it before arriving?

It is best to, particularly if you want to include the cooking class in Khamlia, because the family has to be given notice.
