Just over an hour and a half to the dunes. The fastest way into the desert if you want to skip hours of driving.
The closest airport to the desert
Errachidia’s Moulay Ali Cherif airport is about 100 kilometres from Merzouga. It handles domestic flights, mainly from Casablanca, and it is the quick way into the dunes: an hour and a half and you are at the dunes.
If your trip through Morocco is short, this saves a full day of driving compared with coming from Marrakech.
Ways to make the journey
By private transfer
The simplest: you are picked up at the airport or the station and driven straight here. Tell us when you book and we will help arrange it.
If you are driving
Along the N13 via Erfoud and Rissani, paved all the way. If you would rather not drive, we meet you at the airport and bring you straight here.
By shared taxi
Grands taxis link Errachidia with Erfoud and Rissani, and from there to Merzouga. Cheap, but it means waiting and changing.
The last stretch to the camp
We are in Erg Znaigui, 15-20 km south of Merzouga. We come and get you and drive the last 10 minutes in a 4x4, because it is sand from there. Included both ways in your stay.
