Travelling to the desert alone
Many places charge solo travellers almost the same as a couple, or put them in a shared tent. Not here: the single tent is yours, with its own bathroom and terrace, at €100 a night.
It is the choice of people who come to properly disconnect. We are in Erg Znaigui, outside the stretch where the camps cluster, so at night there is nothing to hear but the wind.
What is included
- A private tent with a single bed and a lounge area.
- Private bathroom with a toilet and a hot shower.
- Air conditioning and heating, from 20:00 to 08:00.
- Dinner and breakfast at the camp.
- Sunset camel ride, sandboarding and Berber music.
- 4x4 transfer both ways to the camp.
What the tent is like inside
From outside it is a tent: canvas over a frame, with its own porch and rugs laid on the sand. Inside it does not look like one: rendered walls, a solid floor, Berber rugs, a single bed, a bedside table and a sitting area. At the back, the private bathroom, with a toilet and a hot shower, inside the tent itself and yours alone.
Air conditioning and heating run from 20:00 to 08:00, which is when you are inside. In winter the desert night gets genuinely cold, and this changes how you sleep entirely.
Outside you have your own porch, with the sand starting a step away. You can see the stars from there without getting up.
Questions about the single tent
Is there a single supplement?
No. The single tent is €100 a night and that is the final price, with dinner, breakfast, the camel ride and the 4x4 transfer included. We do not charge extra for travelling alone and we do not put you in a shared tent.
Will I be on my own at the camp?
No. There are ten tents and there are usually other guests, each in their own. Dinner is served in the restaurant tent, so there is company if you want it and a table of your own if you would rather.
Do I have to share a bathroom?
No. Each of the ten tents has its own private bathroom, with a toilet and a hot shower. There are no shared facilities.
